MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

Reports to: Founder and Executive Director
Timeline: 3 – 4 days per week

The West Island Cancer Wellness Centre (WICWC) Marketing & Communications Coordinator is part of the WICWC team (Fundraising and Programming), reporting to the Executive Director. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator is responsible for the marketing and communications for the WICWC.

The position includes but is not limited to:

  • Strategic planning
  • Building and maintaining the MarCom advisory committee
  • Writing press releases
  • Developing and producing the annual report (content, layout, )
  • Developing newsletters (content, graphics, layout, )
  • Assuring regular press and radio coverage
  • Organize guest speaking opportunities at community events
  • Maintaining and updating of Website and all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram LinkedIn)
  • Maintaining/updating marketing materials
  • Providing regular progress reports
  • Working closely with the Director of Development on all major fundraising annual campaigns
  • Assisting with 3rd Parties material preparation (advertising, marketing, )
  • Attendance at weekly Programming Meetings and development and implementation communications to participants

Required Skills, Experience, and Competency

  • Three years experience
  • Bilingualism (essential)
  • Proficiency in social media
  • Team player
  • Detail-oriented and very organized

Self-motivated, creative, innovative

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills (both French and English)
  • Ability to work under pressure and willing to work with tight deadlines
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • High expectations for quality
  • Proficiency in the use of the latest versions of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher) & related web research
  • Excellent knowledge of social media
  • Knowledge and experience in Direct Mail platforms (Constant Contact) an asset
  • Proficiency with WordPress
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and Google Ad Words is an asset

EVENTS COORDINATOR
Department:
Fundraising
Reports to: Director of Development
Timeline: 3 – 4 days per week

As part of a fundraising team reporting to the Director of Development, the WICWC Events Coordinator oversees and is responsible for  1) Coordinating, planning, and executing existing 2-3 major fundraising events; 2) Creating new internal fundraising events and activities; 3) Coordinating all details required for 3rd party events (DIY).

Experience

The position includes but is not limited to:

  1. Coordination and management of the WICWC events and of DIY events to ensure that they are successful and profitable:
    • Create & execute critical paths & production schedules for events when needed.
    • Create & execute communications to event participants, sponsors, donors, committee members, and service partners throughout the events.
    • Work with Volunteer Coordinator & Marketing & Communications Coordinator (i.e., email blasts, social media, press releases, posters, graphics, etc.).
    • Be present at all events for proper execution.
    • Closeout all Centre events as required. i.e.: payments up to date, thank you letters, etc.
    • Ensure the needs of the person(s) running the event are met.
  2. Strategic planning and budgeting of events to ensure budgetary guidelines are adhered to.
  3. Build and lead committee meetings to assist in positive event production.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with the community, with the goal of increasing fundraising activities.
  5. Provide regular progress reports to the Director of Development.

Other requirements:

  1. Attend staff meetings, and provide support in other departments.
  2. Assist in other WICWC activities as needed.

Required Skills

  1. Minimum of 3 years experience in planning major events
  2. Ability to bring forth new donors related to events
  3. Bilingual (written and spoken)
  4. Team player / Professionalism

Social Worker 

Department: Programming
Supervisor: Executive Director
Timeline: 3 – 4 days per week

Job Description:

To assist participants in dealing with their lives’ challenges while living with cancer. And to help enrich our outreach and community initiatives.

Summary of key tasks

  • Counsel individuals and facilitate support groups
  • Manage registration process for new participants
    • Conduct registrations
    • Review registrations, ensuring all requirements are fulfilled
    • Help manage Wellness Guides
  • Ensure the success of the Living Well with Cancer Network
    • Respond to crisis calls
    • Promote and grow this initiative
    • Maintain National database
    • Respond to requests
  • Act as a patient advocate, providing resources, support and recommendations to enable participants to maintain a level of control over their health /wellness.
  • To work with the Programming team to continue building relationships within the community and hospitals.
    • Along with the Programming team, work with the Marcom coordinator to build and maintain community awareness and organize events to heighten awareness.
    • Assist in the development of internal policies of the organization
    • Create reports as requested by Executive Director
    • Safeguard the good name and values of the WICWC
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience
    • Maintain active status with The Ordre of Social Workers of Quebec
    • Fluently bilingual (required)
    • Excellent communication and counselling skills.
    •  Strong organizational skills
    •  Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office)
