A national day of giving back.

GivingTuesday Countdown Red

 QUADRUPLE YOUR DONATION!

OUR PARTNERS, LAURENTIDE CONTROLS, APOLLO MICROWAVES AND DEAKIN REALTY WILL ALL MATCH YOUR GIFT!

In 2018, Isabelle Brunet was an energetic 42-year-old mom to two teenagers, a teacher and a half-marathon runner. Then she suddenly began to feel pain, like a bee sting in her breast, and unusual fatigue. “I felt like my mind and my body were telling me that something wasn’t right,” says Isabelle.

At first, tests showed nothing. “But I knew something was wrong, so I insisted on following through,” she adds. After several mammograms, biopsies and an MRI, doctors found a tumour. The diagnosis and treatment plan included removal of the tumour followed by oral hormone therapy. All that changed when more tumours were found and Isabelle was told she needed a mastectomy, hormone therapy, chemotherapy and radiation.

She felt overwhelmed by fear, thoughts of major life decisions to be made when someone has a serious illness and emotions – her own and those of her entourage. Friends had told her about the WICWC and one day she drove to the Centre on the spur of the moment. “I came in and I said, ‘I have cancer’. Then I just started crying. From that day forward the WICWC became my second home.”

She immediately felt that she was in good hands as the staff compassionately guided her through the various services offered at the WICWC. Classes like Yoga, Strength & Stretching, Sound Healing, Essentrics, Meditation, Nutritional Cooking as well as counselling helped to heal her mind, body and spirit.

Isabelle has a strong support system, but says, “it takes a village to support someone who has cancer. The WICWC is part of my village. I’ve even made good friends and we call ourselves the Wellness Sisters.”

Isabelle is sharing her story to support our GivingTuesday campaign. We do not receive recurrent government or Centraide funding. Our programs are free for anyone living with cancer thanks to our generous donors and partners.

Please give today. Your donation will be QUADRUPLED since it will be matched by our GivingTuesday partners:  Laurentide Controls, Apollo Microwaves and Deakin Realty.  This means that:
