Is your Centre a live-in facility?
No. We do not have any beds or participants living at the Centre. Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Please check the programming calendar for any evening or weekend programs.
How are you funded?
We fundraise. At the present time, we do not receive any funding from the Federal or Provincial governments, hospitals, any major cancer society or association. We rely solely on donations from individuals, corporations, companies and foundations. To help us continue to providing support to people living with cancer, all donations are greatly appreciated.
If I want to help support the Centre financially , how can I do so?
You can donate online or by cheque (made out to WICWC) and mail it to: WICWC, 115 rue Du Barry, Kirkland (QC) H9H 0C4. (Tax receipts are provided quarterly for all donations of $25+) You can also host a fundraising event!
How often am I allowed to come to the Centre/certain classes?
As often as you wish; but please note, in fairness to all and sometimes due to popularity, we may have to place restrictions on how often you can attend a particular program or service.
Where can I park my car?
We have a parking lot beside the centre.
Does your logo have any particular meaning?
The logo is our version of the Bodhi tree—the oldest living tree in recorded history - a source of energy and inspiration, a symbol of peace, enlightenment, strength and a reminder of the ultimate potential that lies within each of us.
What kinds of things are discussed in the support group?
Discussion topics vary according to the type of group and needs of the individuals in the group. Each meeting usually has a set topic that varies depending on the week, the group and the facilitator.
If I choose to attend a support group session, do I have to share my story or can I just sit and listen?
You can participate as much or as little as you wish. The WICWC is about you deciding what programs meet your wellness goals.
If I know a professional who might like to volunteer their time at the Centre, what do I do?
Please ask this professional to go to our website and fill out the volunteer application form. We will get back to them as soon as possible.
Aside from volunteering at the Centre, where do the professionals who give the programs and services actually work?
All of our professionals volunteer their time and expertise to the WICWC. Most of them also practice at their own place of business. Visit our professionals page for more information on our professionals or if you’d like to see them outside of the Centre.
